A coffee company in town has added dozens of retail locations in the state to its distribution footprint.

Kentwood-based Schuil Coffee has expanded its retail distribution to include 23 Meijer stores and 30 more SpartanNash stores.

The SpartanNash stores will include D&W, Family Fare and VG’s locations.

The Meijer and SpartanNash stores will carry six ground varieties of Schuil Coffee.

“Consumers want more coffee, and retailers are actively looking for brands that consumers can trust,” said Tim Volkema, owner and CEO, Schuil Coffee.

“We’ve had some success with our B-to-B sales to restaurants, coffee shops, offices, churches, hospitals and other institutional organizations, and we’re looking to build on that with more retail options to get Schuil Coffee directly into the hands of consumers for at-home brewing.”

While Schuil Coffee was already available at 90 retailers across Michigan, this is the first time the company will be distributing to Meijer stores. It already distributed to some SpartanNash stores.

“It’s estimated that not only are the majority of adults in the U.S. coffee drinkers, but that the number of coffee drinkers is continuing to rise,” Volkema said. “We are continually exploring our direct-to-consumer options, including expanded retail partners, online ordering and an upcoming subscription program.”

Schuil Coffee expects the new distribution partners, along with the company’s recent acquisition of the Sparrows Coffee wholesale business, will further fuel the company’s projected sales growth.
