A local coffee company recently brought home a national award.
Madcap Coffee in Grand Rapids was awarded one of the 17 2015 Good Food Awards given to coffee companies this month, for its Reko coffee.
The coffee, from Ethiopia, was selected based on blind cuppings where it competed against hundreds of other coffees.
The judges said Reko has an “exemplary flavor – sweet, clean, well-developed body, balanced acidity and phenomenal aromatics.”
This year’s Good Food Award is the third that Madcap has won.
The competition
The awards were announced earlier this month in San Francisco at the 5th-annual competition.
This year, 146 awards were given out to entries from 33 states, following a selection process involving 182 judges going through 1,462 entries.
