A small college in southwest Michigan recently shut down after a fired employee's threats.
Benton Township-based Lake Michigan College shut down all four of its locations shortly before noon on Friday. Lake Michigan College also has locations in Niles, South Haven and Benton Harbor.
Students and employees were sent home after the school was told that a fired maintenance worker had made threats.
State police Sgt. Ryan Schoonveld said the man was interviewed, and the threats were found not to be credible.
Students and employees were also contacted by phone, email and text message.
The school said Friday evening “the campus security concern has ended” and all campuses were scheduled to open for “normal operation,” beginning Saturday, according to its Facebook page.
