A local college has a new business department chair.

Linda Hagan will begin a new role in August as professor and chairperson of the department of business for Aquinas College.

She also will provide leadership support for the master of management degree program.

Hagan is coming from her role as a marketing professor at Walsh College in Troy, where she has served as faculty since 2007.

Other roles at Walsh College have included director of the doctor of management degree program and chair of the business communication department.

In addition to professional experience in public relations, sales and publications at Volkswagen, Audi and Land Rover, Hagan has served as faculty at Michigan State University, Syracuse University, University of Maryland and the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.

“We are thrilled to bring someone with Dr. Hagan’s experience to Aquinas,” said Steve Barrows, provost, executive vice president and dean of faculty at Aquinas. “She will bring a wealth of corporate experience as well as substantial teaching, research and administrative leadership experience.”

Hagan holds a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, M.A. from the University of Arizona and a business administration bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University.

Hagan is a peer reviewer for the Peer Corps of the Higher Learning Commission, a member of the American Marketing Association, and serves as the co-chair of the ethics committee for the Public Relations Society of America Detroit Chapter.
