A local college has named its new vice president for advancement.

Aquinas College said yesterday it hired Frank Doria for the role.

He will lead the school's advancement office, formerly the Aquinas College Foundation.

Doria will work closely with the college president and board of trustees to plan and implement fundraising strategies, capital campaigns, grow the college endowment, supervise and pursue grants and lead revenue generation to advance its mission.

He will also take over leading the college’s $58-million capital campaign, which has raised more than $47 million.

Most recently, Doria served as a major gift officer for ProMedica Healthcare System, a Toledo, Ohio-based nonprofit health care network.

He worked to support an $18-million capital campaign leading to the consolidation of two hospital facilities into a new $130-million medical campus.

Previously, Doria served as senior director at Gorman Venture Group, a development consulting firm, and director of development for the School of Business Administration at Wayne State University.

He holds an M.B.A. from Seattle University and a B.S. from Michigan State University.

“Aquinas is fortunate to have found someone with Frank’s experience to lead our advancement efforts at such a critical time for the college,” said Kevin Quinn, president, Aquinas College. “Our ability to form new partnerships and maintain current relationships with our supporters is so important, so that we can continue to provide a high-quality, accessible education for years to come.”
