A local college president has received a regional award for his efforts in marketing and communications.
Bill Pink, president of Grand Rapids Community College, was named the 2019 Pacesetter for District 3 of the Albuquerque, New Mexico-based National Council for Marketing and Public Relations, or NCMPR.
The award goes to the college president or CEO who has “demonstrated special leadership and support in college communications and marketing.”
A Pacesetter is awarded annually in each of NCMPR's seven districts.
District recipients automatically qualify to compete for the national award, which will be announced in March at the national conference in Orlando, Florida.
District 3 includes community, technical and junior colleges in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and the Canadian province of Ontario.
“GRCC and all community colleges should be loud and proud about the way we serve the people in our communities,” Pink said. “We have great stories to tell.
“Community colleges are special places, building strong partnerships with our fellow educators and our regions’ employers. It’s all with an eye on improving — and in many cases, transforming — the lives of our residents.”
