A hotel and conference center in the region is undergoing a $7.5 million renovation.
Hope College is renovating its Haworth Inn and Conference Center in downtown Holland, at 225 College Ave.
The project includes renovating all conference rooms and the 48 hotel rooms, rebuilding the lobby and creating a coffee shop open to the public.
The meeting and banquet facilities total more than 10,000 square feet and 13 conference rooms that can accommodate groups of up to 400 people. The space includes a new fitness facility for hotel guests, workspaces in the lobby and a gift shop.
Work for the project began in November, and the facility currently is closed.
Guest rooms, located on the building’s second and third floors, and the main-floor lobby will reopen in May. The coffee shop and conference spaces will be phased in during the summer.
A donation of an undisclosed amount from Haworth made the project possible, Hope College officials said.
Architecture and design was led by Patricia Urquiola, based in Milan, Italy, who has worked with Haworth for several years.
Additional architectural design was provided by GMB Architecture + Engineering of Holland.
Grand Rapids-based Owen-Ames-Kimball Co. is the contractor on the project.
