A trio of firms with a West Michigan presence have been named among the best U.S. accounting practices that serve the construction industry.
Chicago-based Crowe LLP, Troy-based Rehmann and Grand Rapids-based Beene Garter were ranked at No. 3, No. 28 and No. 45 on the inaugural Top 50 Construction Accounting Firms ranking released last year by Construction Executive, the Washington, D.C.-based magazine of the Associated Builders and Contractors.
“CPA firms serving construction clients practice one of the most complicated forms of business accounting in existence,” Construction Executive said in the publication.
“All top CPAs are well-versed in accounting, bookkeeping and tax advice. The best bring balance and stability to thousands of construction companies as highly trusted business advisers.”
Thomas Rosenbach, managing partner, Beene Garter, said his firm is honored to be the only West Michigan-headquartered firm on the list.
“This recognition is proof of the hard work, time and resources we’ve dedicated to developing and sustaining our expertise in the construction industry,” he said.
“We’re humbled by the award. But we’re most grateful for the relationships we’ve built with each of our construction clients and having the opportunity to make a positive difference for their businesses and employees. That’s what matters most to us.”
Methodology
To create the ranking, Construction Executive surveyed hundreds of construction accounting firms across the U.S.
Firms were ranked on criteria including 2018 revenues from construction practice, percentage of firm’s total revenues from construction practice, number of CPAs in construction practice, number of construction clients in 2018, number of office locations with a construction accounting practice and more.
The ranking was determined by an algorithm that weighted these factors in descending order of importance. A number of accounting firms elected not to disclose revenues, which affected their ranking.
