A nonprofit that supports grieving children and their families has renovated its headquarters in town, thanks to a local company.

The update of the 2,000-square-foot, four-bedroom home built in 1968 at 2000 Michigan St. NE includes redesigned administrative offices and intake area, which Ele’s Place said has created a better workflow for staff.

The project also included transforming the garage into a conference room, which now can be used for training and meetings on-site, as opposed to what was previously done at Third Reformed Church next door.

Other programs and services will continue being held the church.

Baudville Brands funded the project. Every five years, the company said it completes a project for a local nonprofit that is “making a positive impact in the community.”

This year, more than 80% of Baudville Brands’ employees donated time to the renovation, resulting in over 400 working hours of service. Between volunteer hours and monetary donations, Baudville Brands said it contributed “over six figures” for the project but did not disclose additional funding information.

Grand Rapids-based Times Two Design Company was the project manager for the project. Grand Rapids-based Villa Décor was the interior designer.

Each year, Ele's Place serves more than 1,000 children and families in the Grand Rapids area. In addition to its in-house programs, the West Michigan branch also provides programming and services to a dozen public school districts in the area.
