A local firm has been named Private Equity Firm of the Year by an industry publication.
Grand Rapids-based Blackford Capital received the honor from The M&A Advisor at the publication’s 17th-annual M&A Advisor Awards last month at the New York Athletic Club.
“Blackford Capital was chosen from over 600 participating companies to receive the award," said Roger Aguinaldo, founder, The M&A Advisor. "It gives us great pleasure to recognize Blackford Capital and bestow upon them our highest honor for M&A firms and professionals.”
“This award represents the culmination of the last several successful years for Blackford Capital,” said Martin Stein, founder and managing director, Blackford Capital.
Since 2017, the firm has acquired four portfolio companies, experienced three exits, had seven companies recognized on the “Inc. 5000” list, added 11 new employees — including a managing director — and opened satellite offices in Detroit and San Diego.
Finalists in the Private Equity Firm of the Year category included Los Angeles-based Kayne Partners, Greenwich, Connecticut-based L Catterton, New York-based High Road Capital Partners and Blue Wolf Capital Partners and Chicago-based Thoma Bravo.
