A local construction association has announced its board of directors for 2019.
The Grand Rapids Township-based Associated Builders and Contractors Western Michigan Chapter, or ABCWM, named this week a new group of board members and officers for the year.
Joining the board are attorney Ben Hammond, a shareholder at Hilger Hammond, Byrne Harmon, VP at FCC, and Kristin Ruud, sales manager at S.A. Morman & Co.
Hammond joins the ABCWM board with 16 years of experience in construction law and commercial litigation.
“The political winds of the past few years have resulted in a variety of legal changes the ABC has long sought,” Hammond said. “As those winds change, ABC will be challenged with maintaining the advances made and defending them from the inevitable attacks.”
Harmon’s organization, FCC, a design-build construction firm, has "partnered" with ABCWMC for over 15 years.
“My goal in serving ABC is to help the challenges we face with skilled workforce development and how we can educate the next generation to become more involved,” Harmon said.
Ruud said the construction industry “presents countless opportunities for advancement, and ABC has embraced the opportunity to change the perspective of students as they grow and decide the best path for their future.”
The Associated Builders and Contractors Western Michigan Chapter is an association made up of more than 400 members throughout the western Lower Peninsula and Upper Peninsula.
