A local contractor has hired five employees, including a new director of business development.

Grand Rapids-based A.J. Veneklasen said last month it added a set of team members: Bill Lee, Jeffrey Kenney, Charlie Davis, Naga Praneeta Kanumalli and Jackie Olson.

“All the additions to the AJV team are very talented and will equip AJV well for the year ahead,” AJV President Chris Veneklasen said. “These changes will not only have a company-wide effect, but they will also contribute to the ever-growing construction industry in West Michigan.”

Bill Lee

AJV hired Lee as the firm’s new director of business development, leading sales initiatives.

Lee spent 19 years as the owner, president and CEO of Superior Furniture Company before it was acquired by Kindel Furniture in 2009, where he served as VP for five years.

Lee was also regional sales director for Grand Rapids Chair Company and most recently owned a logistics expedited delivery company.

He holds a business degree from Albion College.

Jeffrey Kenney

Kenney graduated with a degree in construction management from Ferris State University last year.

While in college, he spent much of his time with AJV working on the carpentry crew in various positions, including field training as a superintendent and office work as project manager.

He chose project manager.

Kenney’s father has worked for AJV for more than 30 years.

Naga Praneeta Kanumalli

Kanumalli joins AJV as field service engineer and will prepare design documents for clients, estimators and project managers.

She graduated from Clemson University last May with a master’s degree in construction engineering and management.

Until recently, she was with Aerotech.

Charlie Davis

Davis joins AJV with more than 20 years of residential remodeling experience.

He joins AJV in the newly created carpentry estimator position, where he will plan, coordinate and budget for pre-construction. He will also oversee estimating and development of carpentry projects.

Jackie Olson

Olson recently earned her master’s degree from Davenport University and joins AJV in the human resources department.

She will work on benefits administration, new hire onboarding and employee wellness.
