A construction firm in the area has seven new team members.
Kentwood-based Wolverine Building Group added Cliff Kilboy as senior project manager, David de Velder and John Lafrinere as project managers, Timothy Thome as pre-construction manager and Mitchell Japowicz, Lee Purches and Timothy Clogg as superintendents.
“We’re so excited to welcome all this talent to the Wolverine team,” said Aaron Jonker, president, Wolverine Building Group. “Our project portfolio is expanding across the state with ongoing work in cities, including Grand Rapids, Lansing and Detroit. The addition of these team members will ensure we can meet the demands of our current and future workload and position us for future growth.”
Kilboy has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry, having served in various project management and consulting roles. Previously, he served as a project director at a general contractor, where he oversaw multiple large-scale projects. He specializes in higher education, office, multi-unit residential, health care, sports facilities, government and historical projects and will work in Wolverine’s multi-family division.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering and management technology from Purdue University and is a certified LEED Green Associate.
David de Velder
De Velder has 20 years of experience in the real estate and construction industries. Previously, he served as the director of development at the Kent County Land Bank Authority/InnovaLaB, where he directed real estate development, including the acquisition, assessment, development, renovation and re-sale of 800 tax-foreclosed, bank-foreclosed and distressed properties. He is proficient at managing the construction of multi-unit residential properties and will work in Wolverine’s multi-family division.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from Western Michigan University and maintains his Michigan realtor’s license.
Lafrinere has five years of experience in the construction industry. Previously, he worked as a project manager at Kerkstra Precast. He will work in Wolverine’s multi-family division.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in construction management and building construction technology from Ferris State University.
Thome has over 37 years of experience in pre-construction and estimating roles. Previously, he served as a project planning leader at a general contractor, where he was responsible for planning and estimating projects between $2.5 million to $150 million. He is skilled at estimating in the construction management, design-build and hard bid delivery methods.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in construction from the University of Michigan.
Japowicz, Purches and Clogg have over 75 years of combined experience in the construction industry.
Each will be responsible for performing daily job-site supervision and management responsibilities.
