Construction firm appoints chief strategy officer

A local contractor has a new chief strategy officer.

Owen-Ames-Kimball Co., or O-A-K, said this month Josh Szymanski has been promoted to the role.

He has worked at O-A-K since 2014, joining the firm as director of business development.

Szymanski will oversee the firm’s business development and develop and execute O-A-K’s strategy for growth.

“Josh is the perfect fit for this role,” said Frank Stanek, president and CEO, O-A-K. “This position gives him the opportunity to utilize his versatile skill set in a manner that will best serve our clients and O-A-K.”

Szymanski’s background

Szymanski has more than 16 years of construction experience and first moved to Grand Rapids in 2005.

Previously, Szymanski was with Triangle Associates, including as VP of business development.

He sits on the board for Cannonsburg Challenged Ski Association and a local Society of Professional Engineers.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Michigan Technological University and a master’s in civil engineering from Purdue University.
