A construction firm in the region has named a new executive.

Kalamazoo-based CSM Group appointed Julie Byrne as chief strategy officer, according to the firm last week.

Byrne will focus on guiding firm strategy, corporate development and partnerships, along with the firm’s positioning within the market.

Byrne has been in the project management field for over 15 years and has "extensive experience" in strategic planning, operational success and business leadership.

During her time at CSM Group, she has helped develop internal processes that have streamlined the project startup process and become someone that colleagues “know that they can look to” at the firm.

“She has been a major catalyst behind CSM Group’s success,” said Jim Feltch, president and CEO, CSM Group. “Byrne’s unique understanding of the company’s vision will be the perfect foundation for evolving our positioning. I look forward to seeing what she will achieve.”

Most recently, Byrne served CSM as VP of construction services, where she was responsible for developing and implementing the firm’s construction services strategies, including day-to-day operations and financial well-being of various projects.

In 2011, Byrne was the recipient of CSM Group’s Excellence in Customer Service Award for providing "her best service" to external and internal clients on a daily basis.
