Hanson Real Estate Group broke ground on a new condominium project in Lowell.

The Highlands at Cumberland Ridge, at 1416 Cumberland Ave. SE, Lowell, will be the first new construction condominium project in the Lowell area since 2013, according to the developer.

“Today, more and more people appreciate the balance between work and home life,” said Steve Hanson, realtor and owner of Hanson Real Estate Group. “Many of the clients we work with have asked for new homes with a condominium lifestyle so they can enjoy their leisure time relaxing or traveling and not tied down to home and property maintenance.”

Epcon Communities serves as the contractor for the build. The company started building the road about a month ago and is getting ready to pour the first building foundation by the end of July. The first phase is scheduled to be completed by spring 2021.

Located on about 20 acres on one of the highest elevations in Lowell Township, the Highlands will have 54 duplex-style units tucked away in a private community surrounded by rolling fields and woods.

The new condominiums will offer an open floor plan, two-car garage, nine-foot ceilings, large owner’s suite with walk-in closet, private courtyard and two bedrooms with a third bedroom option. Floor plans range from 1,470 to 2,531 square feet with some lots offering the option of a basement or second story suite and zero-step entry. Pricing starts around $270,000.

Based on consumer input, Hanson decided to forgo amenities like a clubhouse, a pool, or a dog run in favor of energy-efficient construction, spacious private courtyards and lower HOA fees.
