Construction of a new hotel is underway in Ada Township.

Developers broke ground Wednesday, Feb. 9, on Ada House, at 7415 River St. SE in Ada Village. The three-story, 37,000-square-foot riverfront hotel will feature 42 guest rooms and other amenities. The ground floor will accommodate hotel guests and house a restaurant and lounge area. There also will be a rooftop bar, an outdoor patio and a gym.

The hotel will be operated by AHC Hospitality. First Companies serves as the general contractor, and Dixon Architecture of Ada and Gensler’s Chicago office was contracted for the project design. The cost of the project was not disclosed.

The Ada House concept is inspired by the original Ada Hotel, which dates back to the 19th century.

“We’re excited to start the construction of Ada House, which will be the perfect size and lodging experience for Ada,” said George Aquino, vice president/managing director, AHC Hospitality. “We plan to use the hotel space in fun and unique ways that complement the authentic charm and character of the village.”

Construction on the project is expected to be complete in summer 2023. It will be the latest addition the Ada Village development, which includes restaurants, retail, greenspaces and a library.

“The Ada House will connect Ada’s past to its future,” said Hannah Shue, daughter of Cheri DeVos-Ehmann and a supporter of the development. “With its riverfront views, access to Legacy Park and all of the surrounding development, Ada House is the next step in setting the foundation for Ada’s continued success.”
