The expansion at Medbio in Cascade Charter Township — which specializes in injection molding, assembly and packaging — will be at 5346 36th Street SE, said The Right Place, a regional economic development nonprofit, today.

The project will result in a $3.39-million investment by Medbio.

Medbio will add 12,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 8,000 square feet of warehousing to its 45,000-sqquare-foot plant.

The expanded campus will be 55 percent larger to accommodate growth.

Medbio plans to begin the expansion immediately, and the company said hiring will be ongoing over the next three years.

People can apply directly to Medbio by submitting resumes to hr at medbioinc dot com.

“We are very excited about our upcoming expansion that will provide us room to continue our growth,” said Chris Williams, president and CEO, Medbio. “Our customer base is growing in both sheer numbers and revenue, allowing us to create jobs locally.”

Medbio, founded in 2004, will receive a $180,000 performance-based grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund, The Right Place said.

Cascade Charter Township is expected to provide local support in the form of a property tax abatement.

“The Right Place, MEDC and Cascade Township have been integral to our success and provide the support a local business needs to flourish,” Williams said.

Birgit Klohs, president and CEO of The Right Place, said the expansion “reinforces the strength of the growing medical device industry in West Michigan.”
