A husband-and-wife team has acquired a firm in the region that services heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

Merger and acquisition firm Rua Associates in Grand Rapids said this month that Pro-Temp in Holland was sold to Koger Enterprises, a West Michigan-based company led by Jeff and Karen Koger.

Pro-Temp will continue to operate under the same name, and its founders, Cal VanHemert and John Moser, will support the new ownership through the transition.

VanHemert and Moser founded the HVACR service company in 1985.

“We were pleased with the interest in our business from many parties,” the founders said in a statement. “Ultimately, we chose Jeff based on his strong skill sets in management and developing people. Under Jeff’s leadership, we believe the company will grow and continue to provide the level of service our clients are used to. In addition, it was a very important factor that a new owner maintained our existing local presence and that fit within Jeff’s long-term vision.”

The Kogers said in a statement that after 32 years in manufacturing management, they researched “the possibility of business ownership.”

Pro-Temp’s “solid foundation has made this transition for us very rewarding,” the Kogers said.

“Purchasing such a well-positioned company was a perfect fit for our long-term goals,” the couple added. “We look forward to not only sustaining current business, but growing within our community.”
