A craft spirits maker in the region is distributing its products two years after getting started.

The owners of Coppercraft Distillery in Holland — Walter Catton and Mark Fellwock — will be seeing their lines of clear spirits across the Michigan market in April.

The products include gin, rum, vodka and citrus-flavored vodka.

The spirits will also be available in Chicago and Colorado in the coming weeks.

Other products — including bourbon, whiskies, brandies and applejack — will be released later this year.

The company opened its distillery and tasting room in November, with more than $750,000 invested in equipment and building improvements.

“We are very excited for our grain-to-glass spirits to arrive in the Michigan market after having spent the past year creating and improving our products,” Catton said.

The distillery plans to make another investment of $250,000 this year, including a larger 750-gallon still.

“In terms of market opportunity, we believe the craft distilling industry is roughly 15 to 20 years behind the growth that has been seen in the craft beer industry,” Catton said.

“The industry as a whole is experiencing explosive (double-digit) growth, and it is an exciting time to be presenting our product to our community. We believe Michigan is a great place to introduce our locally crafted spirits.”

Tulip Time

Coppercraft Distillery has been named the first-ever spirit sponsor of Tulip Time.

Cocktails featuring the company’s spirits will be available at 18 restaurants during the festival, which runs May 3-10.
