A cybersecurity company has moved into a new headquarters in the area and plans to add 25 positions.

Grand Rapids-based Vulnerability Discovery & Analysis Labs, or VDA Labs, invested $300,000 to move into the space at 5234 Plainfield Ave. NE in Plainfield Township, according to The Right Place yesterday.

VDA Labs was an remote operation before the move.

Its new 3,000-square-foot space houses lab and office space, as well as room for product design and security review. The company currently has eight employees.

The company is forecasting its income to nearly double due to a number of work opportunities with several companies, according to documents from the Michigan Economic Development Organization, or MEDC.

“We’re investing in the future of our people, processes and technology,” said Jared DeMott, founder and CEO, VDA Labs. “We continue to expand our efforts to make our customers and the world safer. Cybercrime is quickly becoming the number-one threat to businesses and people everywhere, and we’re proud to serve on the front lines of combating the threat.”

The MEDC approved a $75,000 performance-based grant for the project.

The Right Place, a Grand Rapids-based economic development nonprofit, worked to ensure the expansion happened in the area.

Michigan was chosen over hiring remotely in Texas, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, where the company has other contracts.
