A nonprofit health and human services leader with more than 25 years of experience is the new president and CEO at D.A. Blodgett-St. John’s.
D.A. Blodgett-St. John’s in Grand Rapids, a nonprofit that provides services to children and families, said today that its board of directors has named Jim Paparella to the leadership role, effective in May.
He will fill the role of outgoing President and CEO Sharon Loughridge, who announced her retirement earlier this year.
Paparella said he’s proud to serve and can’t wait to hit the ground running.
He said that “as a champion for children and families," he was "attracted to the mission, vision and success" of the nonprofit.
“This is a thriving agency doing incredible work in the community,” he said.
Charles Lott, board chair at D.A. Blodgett-St. John’s, said that after a regional search with a number of qualified candidates, the board is pleased to select Paparella to lead the organization.
“His extensive background in children and youth services — including experiences in advocacy, strategic planning and national leadership — will serve him extremely well,” Lott said. “I am confident we found the right person, and we look forward to working with Jim in the months and years ahead.”
Paparella has served as the executive director of Child and Family Charities in Lansing since 1997.
He is involved as a board member at a number of organizations: the Michigan Federation for Children and Families; Child and Families Services of Michigan; and Exchange Club of Greater Lansing.
Paparella is also a grant reviewer and panel chair for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Paparella served in the U.S. Navy, earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and received an M.B.A. from Northwood University.
