The Farmers Insurance Group donated 17 acres of land for Davenport University's athletic complex for baseball, softball and tennis.
Davenport University will hold an official dedication ceremony for its new Farmers Athletic Complex on Wednesday at 1:15 pm.
The new complex at 6125 68th St. SE in Caledonia has baseball and softball stadiums, eight tennis courts, a concession area, public restrooms, locker rooms and press boxes. The baseball stadium will seat 300, while the softball field has seating room for 200 fans. Lights have been installed so night games can be played.
Davenport board chair Tracy Graham, President Richard Pappas and Paul Lowden, the university’s athletic director, will speak at the 1:15 p.m. ceremony. President of Farmers Foremost Division Steve Boshoven and Joseph Buzzitta, executive vice president of Hughes Management, also will make remarks.
The Farmers Insurance Group of Companies donated the 17 acres of land the complex occupies.
Following the dedication ceremony, the Davenport baseball team will face Cornerstone University in its home opener. That game will be followed by the Davenport softball team hosting Bethel College, also in its home opener.
