An architectural and landscape design firm received certification as a woman-owned small business (WOSB).
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) recently granted WOSB certification to Grand Rapids-based M.C. Smith Associates Inc., dba MCSA Group, on Feb. 26, according to the firm.
“As a certified woman-owned small business, we are eager to continue providing the highest quality professional services to our federal, state and municipal clients,” said Tiffany Smith, president, MCSA Group.
The firm said its diversity ensures the “wide range of issues and concerns” clients face will be addressed with solutions that are “creative” and “sensitive” to each project’s distinct goals and objectives.
“We have worked with MCSA Group since 1991 with the development of Silver Beach County Park, and nearly 30 years later, we continue to value this relationship,” said Brian Bailey, director of the Berrien County Park Commission.
“They are top notch when it comes to park development, planning visioning, grant projects, budgets and opportunities.”
Founded in 1977 by Michael C. Smith, who continues as the firm’s creative director, MCSA Group has been woman owned since 2017, and its current principals include Kathleen Waters, Jolanta Stecka, Melinda Whitten and Smith.
The firm offers end-to-end planning, design, engineering and development in the architectural and landscape architectural space.
Its portfolio of work has included public housing projects; sports and athletic facilities; streetscapes and plazas; community, neighborhood and waterfront parks; and playgrounds.
It also offers signage design, community parks and recreation plan design, grant application consultation and facility assessments.
