A developer is building a 204-unit apartment complex in a lakeshore community.
Grand Haven-based Cherette Group broke ground yesterday on Piper Lakes Apartment Homes in Grand Haven, at 168th Avenue and Comstock Street.
The project is the first new apartment development in Grand Haven in a decade.
From 2010-2015, Ottawa County’s population increased 6.1 percent, and 48 multi-family units have been built in the “Tri-City” area since 2007, according to Cherette Group.
“The local market currently does not offer anything comparable to Piper Lakes,” said Denny Cherette, principal, Cherette Group. “More and more people are interested in the convenience and flexibility of renting, and they want a premium experience.”
The complex will include one- and two-bedroom apartments and 128 attached garages.
Apartment details will include pantry kitchens, quartz counters, “designer” fixtures and vinyl tiling.
A playground, dog park, clubhouse and pool are among the amenities being included by Cherette Group.
Piper Lakes Apartments Homes was designed by Grand Haven-based Oppenhuizen Architects and is being built by CopperRock Construction in Grand Rapids.
Grand Rapids-based Mercantile Bank financed the project.
