A new 248-unit apartment development is in the works along a major retail corridor in the area.

Continental Properties will begin construction later this month on the Springs at Knapp’s Crossing in Grand Rapids Township, at 2550 E. Beltline Ave. NE, according to Colliers West Michigan today.

Construction at the 28.79-acre site is expected to finish by the end of this year, with pre-leasing to start in early 2018.

The development will feature townhome-style apartments offering residents direct entries into studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units.

Amenities will include a clubhouse and lounge, “resort-style” pool, fitness center, pet playground and car care center.

The property also includes an eight-acre preservation area and public trail network connection.

The site was selected because of the abundance of nearby amenities, said Erik Hahn, development director, Continental Properties.

“We selected this location for the Springs at Knapp’s Crossing because of the growing demand for high-quality apartments in the vicinity,” Hahn said.

Colliers Associate Vice President David Rapp assembled the six parcels for Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin-based Continental Properties.

Michael DeVries, board supervisor for Grand Rapids Township, said while the site “presented many unique challenges for a residential project,” Continental Properties “listened to neighbors and worked with the township to make accommodations to ensure the development fits the vision of our community.”
