An out-of-state developer is planning to build a new hotel by Hilton in a Grand Rapids suburb.
Tony Basile, president of Chicago-based Chicago Diversified Foods, wants to build a Home2 Suites by Hilton, one of several new buildings at his 15-acre JBB Place development in Byron Township, on the corner of Byron Center Avenue SW and 64th Street SW.
The extended-stay hotel has been approved for three stories, which would give it 94 rooms, Basile said. He is awaiting approval of a fourth floor, per the brand’s suggestion, which would add about 20 rooms.
The hotel will include a pool and a conference room.
The project will cost $12 million to $14 million and take eight to nine months to finish after it receives final approval.
Basile said he intends to remain the hotel's owner.
The closest Home2 Suites by Hilton is in Holland, and one is scheduled to open this May in Walker.
