A developer is planning to build out a community of manufactured homes for seniors in the area.

The 200-acre Oaks of Rockford is being marketed to seniors 55 and older who want to design their manufactured homes “from the ground up” in Rockford, at the corner of 14 Mile Rd. NE and Ritchie Rd. NE.

The homes are then manufactured and delivered to the new 500-700-site development.

The development will feature two- and three-bedroom ranch homes, with two full baths and garages.

The Oaks of Rockford features a 5,500-square-foot clubhouse, events, activities, yard maintenance and on-site customer service.

The “pet-friendly” development also includes more than 40 acres of outdoor recreation space.

Home prices start from $119,900.

Brian Fannon is managing and constructing the development, with his partners Ed Zeman and Dee Pizer, both of Zeman Homes in Chicago.

Fannon is the president of Strategic Operational Solutions in Novi, a consulting firm that specializes in operations and sales for manufactured home and recreational vehicle resort land-leased communities.

Fannon said the Rockford site “gave us the chance to fulfill our lifelong dream” of developing this type of project.
