SMG-managed DeVos Place and DeVos Performance Hall are in record-setting territory.
The venues posted sterling revenue and attendance numbers for 2018 Fiscal Year, which was between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018.
All the events hosted at the DeVos Place/Performance Hall brought in a combined revenue of $7.2 million, which was an increase from its 2017 FY revenue of $6.5 million.
DeVos Place and DeVos Performance Hall had a combined attendance of 702,939 people, representing a customer increase of more than 70,000. The venues saw a combined attendance of 631,744 for 2017 Fiscal Year.
DeVos Place held events on 357 days during the 2018 FY. Some of the events included Bruhan Maharashtra Mandal of North America; Grand Rapids International Wine, Beer & Food Festival; Michigan International Auto Show; 2017 State Games of America; American Quilter’s Society QuiltWeek; Metro Health Hospital VITALity Gala; Grand Rapids Comic Con; Mel Trotter Ministries Thanksgiving Banquet; Gymnastics on the Grand; Great Lakes Fruit, Vegetable and Farm Market Expo; Michigan Music Conference; and Grand Rapids Community College Giants Awards & Banquet, among many others.
DeVos Performance Hall hosted events on 166 days. Some of the events included concerts, shows, conventions and ceremonies hosted by the GR Symphony, Opera Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids Ballet, Broadway Grand Rapids, Michigan Music Conference, Gilda’s LaughFest, Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Matriculation and White Coat Ceremony, and many more.
While the two venues saw success during 2018 FY, Van Andel Arena saw a decline in revenues and attendance compared to 2017 FY.
The arena brought in $6.8 million in revenue for 2018 FY. That was a decrease from the $7.1 million reported for the 2017 FY.
The arena welcomed 698,700 visitors on 112 event days during 2018 FY, which included Grand Rapids Griffins games. There were 71 event days that didn’t include hockey games.
The 2017 FY at the Van Andel Arena saw total attendance of 732,286 for its 118 event days, including Griffins games and non-ticketed events.
Some of the events held at the arena included Katy Perry with Purity Ring concert; WWE SmackDown Live; Marvel Universe Live! Age of Heroes; Barley, BBQ & Beats (To Benefit Hospice of Michigan); Grand Valley State University commencement; Disney On Ice presents Reach For The Stars (seven shows); MercyMe and Tenth Avenue North Live with special guest Tim Timmons; Michigan State University vs. University of Georgia charity exhibition basketball game, among other events.
