A chain of dog day care, boarding and spa facilities has opened a location in town.
Franchisee Tim Parker opened the first Dogtopia location in West Michigan last month at 2321 E. Beltline Ave. NE in Grand Rapids Township.
“We are thrilled to bring Dogtopia to the neighborhood and provide much-needed care for dogs in the area,” Parker said.
“Our mission is to create the most exciting day ever for pups, while giving their parents peace of mind while they’re away. Instead of being left alone at home or in an isolated kennel environment, Dogtopia provides an opportunity for our furry children to meet new friends, get exercise, enjoy playtime and have quality human interaction while at day care.”
Amenities and offerings
Dogtopia’s three cornerstones are education, exercise and socialization.
Pet owners are walked through a detailed facility tour when they bring their dogs to be evaluated for a stay.
The business employs webcam technology in each playroom that allows owners to check on their pups from anywhere.
The space has an open layout with playrooms for dogs of similar size and temperament.
Each playroom also has compressed rubber flooring to ease pets’ joints, prevent slipping and promote safe play, as well as a “powerful” HVAC system with in-duct UV lighting that “funnels air out of the building to ensure clean, fresh air” and “eliminates bad bacteria,” Dogtopia said.
Every area is cleaned with “dog-safe products,” according to Dogtopia.
Dogtopia’s fees are all-inclusive, and meals are prepared according to each pet owner’s direction.
The business is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Founded in 2002, Dogtopia has 65 locations across North America.
Each facility averages between 3,000 and 7,500 square feet and is specially designed to reduce odors, noise level, illness and accidents.
