A downtown coffee shop has a new temporary location while it undergoes a renovation.
Madcap Coffee, 98 Monroe Center NW, will have a temporary pop-up café inside the comic book shop Vault of Midnight, 95 Monroe Center NW, while the café is renovated. The renovation runs Monday to Sunday.
“We have a lot of exciting moving parts and pieces in the next week with the café renovations and two pop-up cafés,” Madcap CEO Trevor Corlett said in a press release. “Our goal is to serve our customers better with our café renovations and to continue to provide the same exceptional Madcap Coffee experience through some great partnerships and exciting pop-ups.”
Renovation
The floors at the café are being redone and a new bar will be implemented that helps create better customer and work flow for more efficient and engaging service, according to Corlett.
“After eight years of running with the same design and flow, there were a lot of little things that could be improved upon to provide a better work and customer experience,” Corlett said.
The new bar will include more seating and equipment pieces.
Cost of the renovation was not disclosed.
Pop-up shop
The pop-up café hours inside the comic book shop will be 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday-Friday; 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturday; and 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Sunday.
Grand Rapids-based woodcraft company Anvil Goods built the pop-up and bike carts in the same design and vision as the new renovation at Madcap.
A bike cart also will be set up in front of the Monroe Center Café.
Fulton Street café
Madcap also recently began construction on a café at its roastery and training lab at 1041 E. Fulton St.
A mobile cart will be in front of the Fulton location beginning next week to introduce the neighborhood to Madcap’s beverages.
