The leader has been named for a hotel coming downtown.

Lindsay Jarvis was appointed as general manager of the Hyatt Place Grand Rapids/Downtown, which is opening this summer, according to AHC+Hospitality yesterday.

Jarvis will oversee daily operations of the “modern” 160-room hotel.

Her experience with other downtown Grand Rapids hotels makes her the “ideal candidate to successfully open and establish the Hyatt Place brand,” said Rick Winn, president, AHC+Hospitality.

Jarvis began her career with AHC+Hospitality in 2008 as a front-desk agent at the Amway Grand Plaza.

Since then, the company said she’s excelled in front-of-house manager and director-level roles, responsible for guest satisfaction, streamlining operational efficiencies and motivating staff. Most recently, she was director of Amway Grand Plaza’s front-office operations.

A “key player” in Amway Grand Plaza’s transition from its Preferred Hotels & Resorts affiliation to Hilton Worldwide in 2016, the company said Jarvis’ role was “integral” in the hotel being recognized as Hilton’s “Conversion of the Year.”

“My ultimate goal is for Hyatt Place Grand Rapids/Downtown to embody the Midwestern hospitality values I grew up with and reflect the city’s distinct charm,” Jarvis said.

Jarvis is chair of development and education for the Women in Leadership Grand Rapids board. In 2018, she was appointed to the alumni board of directors for the School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University.

She holds a degree in hospitality and business from Michigan State University.

Hyatt Place Grand Rapids/Downtown

Hyatt Place Grand Rapids/Downtown is part of the $55-million Warner Building, to be finished this year at 150 Ottawa Ave. NW.

The project encompasses 291,549 square feet and includes a seven-story parking deck, according to a previous Business Journal report.

Hyatt Place Grand Rapids/Downtown will feature three meeting spaces and an on-site restaurant with complimentary breakfast for World of Hyatt loyalty members. With a “casual, uncomplicated atmosphere,” the company is forgoing the traditional front-desk agent for a “host” who doubles as a bartender and barista.

AHC+Hospitality is a hotel and restaurant management company working with multiple brands: Marriott International, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Hyatt Hotel Corporation, Wolfgang Puck Worldwide, Ruth’s Hospitality Group and more.

In Grand Rapids, the company manages the Amway Grand Plaza, JW Marriott Grand Rapids, the coming AC Hotel Grand Rapids Downtown and the coming Hyatt Place Grand Rapids/Downtown.
