Two Downtown Market retailers are partnering with a grocer in the area to open their second locations.

Kingma’s Market said yesterday Fish Lads and Carvers: Grand Rapids Finest Meats will be vendors at its new 14,000-square-foot location in Ada Village, at the southeast corner of Ada Drive SE and Fulton Street.

Kingma’s owner Alan Hartline said both businesses, owned by Jeff Butzow, are among the best in Grand Rapids.

“Both will be a great fit for the Ada community,” Hartline said.

Fish Lads will feature more than 100 varieties of fresh, frozen and prepared seafood.

Carvers will feature a variety of “custom-cut” meats.

Both businesses will feature a full-service kitchen for prepared lunch and dinner items.

Butzow just opened Carvers this month, and he’s operated Fish Lads since 2013.

Kingma’s will break ground on the Ada Village market on Oct. 25.

The second location for the long-time Grand Rapids retailer is expected to be completed next fall.

The retailer also recently announced the addition of Rowsters Coffee as an in-store café and roasted coffee purveyor for the Ada store.

Hartline purchased the business from the Kingma family in 2014.

Kingma’s Market’s also operates a location in Grand Rapids, at 2225 Plainfield Ave. NE.
