A restaurant in the heart of downtown has closed — and a new restaurant is planning to open in its place.

XO Asian Cuisine in Grand Rapids, at 58 Monroe Center St. NW, announced it has been purchased, and the space will re-open with a new concept after renovations by the new owner.

Calls to the restaurant by the Business Journal were not immediately returned.

A sign was posted on the door earlier this week to thank customers and announce the new ownership and renovation.

The new concept will be called Soho Sushi and Bar. The timeline and details for the business are unknown.

XO was shut down by the Kent County Health Department for a week this spring after 30 Michigan Food Law code violations.
