Drone company earns best in state title

A West Michigan drone company has earned the title of best in the state.

Corporate Vision Magazine recently awarded Holland-based Macatawa Unmanned Systems the title of 2020 Best for Unmanned System Training and Development – Michigan.

Jo Holloway, head of features at CV Magazine, said Macatawa Unmanned was the only firm in Michigan to win the title.

“Our team begins with set criteria and looks at firms/individuals that meet or exceed this within the range of industry sectors most relevant to the magazine’s circulation, and that we feel are innovators within their particular field,” Holloway said.

Lt. Col. Jeremy Latchaw founded Macatawa Unmanned in 2016. The security company specializes in unmanned aerial vehicles and small, unmanned aircraft systems. Its client list cuts across the spectrum from the state of Michigan and the federal government to local police and fire departments and numerous private sector firms.

“Drones save lives,” Latchaw said. “I am honored to receive international recognition for advancing the field of work that I love.”
