A regional workforce development agency moved its Ionia County service center to a new location.

West Michigan Works! said it moved Ionia County’s office to a new location at 603 W. Adams St. in Ionia.

The larger, 7,500-square-foot space will provide job seeker and employer services for residents and businesses throughout Ionia County from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The previous office at 301 W. Main St., where West Michigan Works! operated since 2016, closed Friday, April 15.

“Our new Ionia office provides additional space, job seeker and employer services, as well as collaborations with our community partners,” said Abby Stalker, talent solutions manager, West Michigan Works!. “We’re only a half-mile away from our old space and are still centrally located, just off Main Street.”

The West Michigan Works! Ionia service center is in the old Family Dollar building, attached to Secretary of State, which has undergone a complete renovation.

Area Community Services Employment and Training Council (ACSET) was the general contractor, with Central Michigan Building Services performing the structural build out. Additional services were provided by Contract Electric doing electrical; Wilson Heating, Cooling and Plumbing; River City Flooring; Store Fronts; and S.A. Morman.

West Michigan Works! service centers offer job seekers in-person and online career services and skill development workshops. In-person job seeker services include computer and internet access, cover letter and resume workshops, and assessments and career counseling.

West Michigan Works! is part of the statewide Michigan Works! system, serving the employers and job seekers of Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon and Ottawa counties.
