As Aquinas College prepares to start the fall semester next month, the school has rolled out additional details for the semester on its Saints Together: A Plan for Fall 2020 website.
The new information includes details about the delivery of academic instruction, health and safety protocols, and changes to physical spaces and services.
Students, faculty and staff will be asked this month to sign the Saints Together Pledge to protect themselves and the community as well as participate in training about changes to campus life.
The classroom size on campus will be reduced to 40%. Most classrooms will have an occupancy of between 12-18 seats. Classrooms will require cloth face coverings, plexiglass protection for limited contact and enhanced cleaning and disinfecting of public spaces such as restrooms. Classes will be offered in three modes, which include in-person, hybrid and fully online. All classrooms will have cameras and microphones for synchronous delivery.
In order to ensure the health and safety of students, Aquinas will be giving its students Saints Health Kits, which includes AQ cloth face covering, hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes. The college will provide reusable cloth face coverings to employees and disposable masks to guests. New directional signages will be placed throughout the campus to assist faculty, staff and students in navigating their way around and enhance social distancing regulations.
The college will require students to participate in daily self-screenings through the Healthy Roster app. Guests such as visitors, vendors, contractors and suppliers will be also be required to complete a symptom screening by its Department of Campus Safety when they arrive on campus.
