Grand Rapids Community College changed the structure of its parking fee by allowing students to pay $3.50 per day for unlimited access to parking lots on its Main Campus and DeVos Campus.
Previously, students paid $3.50 each time they entered the parking lot.
GRCC said the move was made to save students money as many face financial challenges related to COVID-19.
“This is one more step GRCC is taking to reduce costs for students, making an education more affordable and accessible,” said Lisa Freiburger, GRCC vice president for finance and administration. “We don’t want parking costs to be a factor in a student’s decision to take a class or access programs.”
As a result of the changes to the parking fee structure, the community college will be suspending the Sneden shuttle service for the fall semester, citing difficulties with social distancing on buses.
