A local electrical contractor is expanding its presence in a growing out-of-state market.

Grand Rapids-based Feyen Zylstra, or FZ, opened a second office in the Charleston, South Carolina area last month.

Its new office is located in the Charleston marina, at 3 Lockwood Dr. The office is a satellite to the firm’s branch in North Charleston, at 8351 Palmetto Commerce Pkwy.

The 1,200-square-foot marina space is adjacent to locations where FZ has completed and maintains multi-phase electrical services projects.

FZ has long-standing partnerships with Medical University of South Carolina Hospital and the College of Charleston, which are both within a mile radius of the marina office.

“The new location allows us to continue giving our customers the exceptional service and experience they get and expect from FZ, especially now in the booming Charleston market,” said Randy Lail, VP of sales and operations, Feyen Zylstra.

FZ plans to strengthen its existing partnerships in the area with Boeing, Volvo and Nexans Wire on current and future projects, broaden its reach with new business at The Jasper and WestEdge, two mixed-use high-rise developments, as well as Bishop Gadsden, a retirement community 10 minutes from downtown Charleston.

Feyen Zylstra has seven offices throughout Michigan, Charleston and Nashville, Tennessee.
