Electronics manufacturer acquires company

A maker of electronic controls, lighting and instrumentation products in the area has acquired a similar manufacturer.

Holland-based Westshore Design acquired Moline-based Petra Electronic Manufacturing this winter, according to Rua Associates last week.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Gary Van Dyke, president and CEO of Westshore Design, said the acquisition allows his company to “strengthen its capabilities, while providing an opportunity to serve a new set of customers with superior product solutions.”

“Technology continues to greatly change the world we live in, and we are excited about being part of the many new and dynamic changes that will shape our futures,” Van Dyke said. “The addition of Petra Electronics continues to strengthen the Westshore Design capability platform and helps shape our future.”

Hudsonville-based Rua Associates served as the M&A advisor for Petra Electronic Manufacturing.

The M&A advisor for Westshore was not disclosed.

Petra Electronic Manufacturing

Founded in 1996 by Jack Doornbos, Petra Electronic Manufacturing specializes in electronic technologies that serve multiple markets, including embedded controls, lighting, entertainment devices, pneumatic valve controls and aftermarket automotive controls.

It also makes printed circuit boards and electronic assembly parts and has design, prototyping and testing capabilities.

Westshore Design

Founded in 2003, Westshore Design is a manufacturer of embedded controls, electronic circuit boards, LED vision lighting, outdoor LED lighting and instrumentation products.

It is owned by the Holland-based private equity firm GVD Industries, which has holdings in the real estate and energy sectors.
