A local engineering company has acquired a Michigan firm that specializes in airport engineering and consulting.

Grand Rapids-based Prein&Newhof, or P&N, acquired Lansing-based QoE Consulting, an eight-year-old firm, according to P&N yesterday.

P&N’s team now has over 200 years of combined aviation service experience.

QoE Consulting’s founders, Gordon Bogner, P.E., and Michael Borta, P.E., have joined Prein&Newhof and plan to continue working to meet the needs of their clients.

“(Gordon) has 50 of experience, and I have 48 years, so we needed a company transition plan to maintain our clients and our staff,” Borta said.

Bogner added that they had "a good understanding of Prein&Newhof’s culture and expertise and felt it was compatible with QoE.”

P&N President Thomas Newhof said he was honored QoE trusted P&N to take care of its clients and employees.

“We are pleased to welcome the QoE clients and look forward to fulfilling their consulting needs,” Newhof said. “We are also excited to offer our airport clients decades of airport electrical engineering experience, in addition to our general civil services.”

Prein&Newhof offers a wide range of civil engineering, environmental consulting, surveying, GIS and laboratory services to municipal and private clients across Michigan.

P&N also has offices in Cadillac, Holland, Muskegon, Traverse City and Kalamazoo, as well as an environmental laboratory adjacent to its headquarters in Grand Rapids.
