A network of eye care practices has added a new doctor.
Dr. Ronald Hessler has joined the team of Grand Rapids Ophthalmology.
Hessler is a board-certified ophthalmologist performing medical, diabetic and routine eye exams, as well as small incision cataract surgery.
Prior to joining Grand Rapids Ophthalmology, Hessler worked at Mayo Health Clinic System-Red Cedar as a clinical ophthalmologist and chief of surgery.
Hessler has a master’s degree in public health from the University of Michigan and received his medical doctorate from the University of Michigan School of Medicine.
He completed his ophthalmology residency at Tulane University of Medicine and transitional residency at Oakwood Hospital.
“Dr. Hessler brings with him in-depth ophthalmic and surgical experience,” said Zach Smith, GRO’s executive director. “He has a deep understanding of excellent patient care and will be an asset in helping Grand Rapids Ophthalmology continue to provide the highest level of eye care to our patients.”
Hessler is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and American Medical Association.
