Eye care group hires provider

A West Michigan eye care medical group has a new provider.

Grand Rapids Ophthalmology has hired Dr. Joe Morehouse. He began his duties Aug. 6.

Morehouse performs small incision cataract surgery utilizing advanced technology intraocular lenses, implants for astigmatism, and traditional intraocular lenses, as well as treating patients for routine eye care, glaucoma and diabetes.

“Dr. Morehouse’s proven experience utilizing sophisticated microsurgical techniques and the latest advancements in intraocular lens technology makes him a great addition to our team of expert surgeons,” said Zach Smith, GRO executive director. “We are proud to be able to offer our cataract patients extra convenience when it comes to scheduling and surgery options.”

Morehouse comes from Oakland Eye Care in Clarkston, where he worked for a year after completing his three-year residency. 

He received his medical degree from Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at St. John Providence Health System. He has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Michigan State University.

He is a member of American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

Morehouse is accepting new patients at the Caledonia, Grandville, East Beltline and Walker locations.

Blue Sky Vision

Blue Sky Vision, formerly Great Lakes Management Services Organization, was formed in 2017 by Chicago-based Sterling Partners, a private equity firm, as a practice management services organization.

It manages Grand Rapids Ophthalmology and its 15 related retail optical and surgical facility businesses, including Lakeshore Eye in East Grand Rapids and Walker Surgical Center in Walker.
