A local eye care practice has added two new providers.

Grand Rapids Ophthalmology, or GRO, said last week it hired Margaret Baumgartner, OD, and Robert Baltierra Jr., OD.

Baumgartner and Baltierra will provide comprehensive eye care, ranging from routine exams to full-scope optometry, including contact lenses, pre- and post-operative care, ocular disease treatment and management and dry eye.

“We believe strongly that the core of any great medical practice are well-trained, highly competent, caring and compassionate doctors,” said Zach Smith,  executive director, GRO. “Both Drs. Baumgartner and Baltierra bring with them the necessary skillset and professional demeanor to provide first-rate care to patients.”

Baumgartner received her doctor of optometry from the Michigan College of Optometry and is a graduate of University of Detroit Mercy.

Her experience includes medical residency rotations in glaucoma, retina, cornea, refractive surgery, low vision, specialty contact lenses and dry eye.

She is a member of American Academy of Optometry and Michigan Optometric Association.

Baltierra received his doctor of optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry and is a graduate of California State University Fullerton.

His experience includes medical residency rotations in glaucoma, cataracts, cornea, refractive surgery, retina, low vision and urgent eye care.
