A farm in the region is closing and eliminating 300 positions.

LM Farms, dba Gardens Alive! Farms, will cease all operations at its Grand Haven plant farm at 16127 Winans St. on Aug. 3, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification letter it filed with the state this week.

Lawrenceburg, Indiana-based Gardens Alive! Farms is closing the nursery because of “current and expected future losses,” the letter says.

As a result, a combination of 300 full-time and seasonal positions will be cut permanently.

The news comes after the Business Journal reported in 2016 that an affiliate of Gardens Alive! Farms acquired Zelenka Farms, which then owned the Grand Haven farm, in a $15-million bankruptcy auction.

At the time, the deal secured the jobs of 300 Zelenka Farms workers in Grand Haven who were going to be laid off, and management was also expecting to hire employees.
