An aviation support services company is in the middle of constructing its new fixed-based operations facility at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

Ann Arbor-based Avflight is building the 5,000-square-foot facility and 30,000-square-foot hangar on a five-acre leased parcel on the airport’s east side. The structure will have access to the terminal, taxiways and runways, and local highway system.

Avflight, with 21 locations worldwide, plans to add at least 30 new jobs and will make a $6 million to $7 million capital investment, according to company officials.

Services the company will offer include fuel sales, hangar storage, aircraft ground handling services, de-icing, concierge services and all matters related to general and business aviation.

Other services provided to the airport community include indoor car parking, secured access and 1,650 square feet of office space with the ability to build to suit.

The new facility is expected to open in spring 2020.
