Film-rating nonprofit names CMO

A family friendly film-rating nonprofit has named the marketer who will promote its mission and seal of approval.

The Dove Foundation, a Bryon Center-based nonprofit that focuses on developing and supporting family friendly entertainment, has named Steve Sammons its new chief marketing officer.

His role at The Dove Foundation will be to lead branding initiatives and develop and oversee integrated growth strategies for Dove’s new products and communication channels.

Sammons, who will be based in Los Angeles, spent the last four years as CMO at Zondervan, the biggest Christian publishing company on the planet.

He also served as global CMO for Calumet Photographic, a major specialty retailer of digital photo and video equipment.

"Steve is a world-class marketer whose deep understanding of consumer culture and track record for innovation makes him a natural choice to create a stronger presence for Dove and create an enduring, valuable resource for a wider audience," said Dick Rolfe, the foundation’s co-founder and CEO. "His proven success in creating and managing consistent and disciplined marketing experiences across diverse channels and cultures will be a tremendous asset."

Sammons, who lives in California, received his bachelor’s from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif., as well as an executive management degree from UCLA's Anderson School of Business.

"The Dove Foundation is an influential and iconic brand,” Sammons said. “I am looking forward to building upon its heritage and securing its viable future. Dove already has significant relationships throughout the major studios and also among the independent filmmakers across the country.
