A 19-acre townhouse project is underway in town.
Grand Rapids-based Orion Construction is now at work on the 87-unit Michigan Meadows, with the first few buildings coming online later this spring.
Townhouses at Michigan Meadows will be spread throughout 23 buildings on the site in Grand Rapids, at 2233 Michigan St. NE.
All buildings and site work should be finished by spring 2020.
The community will have two- and three-bedroom townhouses ranging from 1,400-1,600 square feet, in duplex and four-plex formats.
Amenities will include fireplaces, balconies, custom-built kitchens/cabinetry and ample storage space. Many of the units will have basements, and some will be zero-step units for convenience or mobility restrictions.
Michigan Meadows will feature green space, protected wetlands, a dog run, extensive landscaping and road re-working, so the property fits into the community properly and access is improved through the area.
The site was previously home to Wealthy Park Baptist Church, the Business Journal previously reported.
The anticipated construction cost is upwards of $19 million. Funding is through Mercantile Bank of Michigan and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
Orion Real Estate Solutions, part of Orion Construction, is the project’s owner.
PURE Real Estate Management will manage the property once it is finished, and PURE Real Estate Brokerage will handle leasing.
