A new $20-million student housing complex has been completed near a college in the area.
Wilmington, North Carolina-based Zimmer Development Group, with Grand Rapids-based Orion Construction serving as contractor, recently completed The Alpine student apartments adjacent to Grand Valley State University in Allendale, at 10452 Lodge Dr.
The Alpine includes 432 beds throughout 108 student apartments.
The project is the second and final phase of a student housing development by Zimmer Development Group and completed by Orion Construction.
Prior to breaking ground on The Alpine, the firms finished a $22-million student housing complex on the same 60-acre site called The Lodge. The fully leased 192-unit apartment complex has 576 beds.
“Zimmer Development Group has a keen understanding of the student audience, their lifestyle preferences and the amenities that set their student housing apart from the competition,” said Roger Rehkopf, president, Orion Construction. “It has been a pleasure working with their team through the last two years, and we are proud of our crews for bringing our client’s vision to reality.”
The Alpine includes nine separate three-story apartment buildings along with a pool house and community clubroom.
Each four-bedroom unit is fully furnished with a sofa, lounge chair, flat-screen TV, coffee table, entertainment console, bar stools, washer, dryer, stainless-steel appliances, granite countertops and more.
Each bedroom has a private bathroom, walk-in closet, mattress, bed with storage, nightstand, desk and chair.
The student housing community features numerous amenities: study lounges, resort-style pool, indoor/outdoor bar, game room, indoor/outdoor kitchens, 24-hour fitness center, dog park, soccer field, basketball courts and more.
With the completion of The Alpine, there are 1,008 beds throughout 300 apartments on the site.
The Alpine is now leasing units, and each unit will be rented for about $600 a month.
