A new set of apartment buildings for a Grand Rapids complex have gone online.

Indianapolis-based AMP Residential said it unveiled yesterday three new buildings for Aspen Lakes Apartments, at 1701 Knapp St. NE.

The three two-story buildings add a total of 32 units to the previously 144-unit, five-building complex.

The project also included renovations to Aspen Lakes’ existing clubhouse, which includes a 24-hour fitness center, game room and a pet washing station. Additional features include an outdoor fire pit, gas grilling areas and paved nature trails.

A final set of six buildings is slated for completion in May 2018 and will add 74 units to the complex.

Overall, the nine-building addition is a $17-million project.

“There is a need for additional housing on the northeast side of Grand Rapids,” said Christie Hulst, marketing coordinator, AMP Residential. “We already owned the property and decided an upscale build would be the best way to invest in the city of Grand Rapids.”

There are several types of units in the new buildings: one-bedroom, 940-square-foot units at $1,149 per month; two-bedroom, 1,074- to 1,556-square-foot units at $1,490 to $1,590 per month; and three-bedroom, 1,074- to 1,556-square-foot units at $1,899 to $2,000 per month.

Amenities in the new units include kitchens with granite countertops, stainless-steel appliances, walk-in closets, a washer and dryer and attached garage.

“Aspen Lakes reflects the future of our company," said Michael Humphrey, CEO, AMP Residential.
